Parents Guide

The parent(s) of a competition swimmer has to be as dedicated as the swimmer themselves, that usually means amongst other things being the early morning call, the taxi service, the “drop-in” restaurant and the launderette for mountains of towels. If that wasn’t enough there is then the endless hours spent sitting in swimming pools either at training or competition.

Being so dedicated can have its dangers, its very easy to get a little too involved and instead of providing support become critical and even over emotional if things do not appear to be going the way you expect. Its a something all swimmer parents can experience at one time or another.
