Swansea Meet - January 2010
The decision to do the dragon meet was a hard one for all our families, we were all hoping for the snow to go away so we could actually get to Wales. The journey was slow for everyone, but when we arrived all the fun started! First priority…dinner! We were
not disappointed at the restaurant either; an all you can eat buffet is bound to go down well with us! With me, Jonny, Ted, Josh and Ollie I’m surprised they had any food left by the end.
An early night was had by most people as the trip to the pool was an early 7am. Our swims began, the cheering started and when many of us made it to the finals the whole team and all the parents were there to support us. We may have been the smallest club but with Jonny on our side we were by far
the loudest!

Day by day everyone’s swims seemed to be improving, more Pb’s, more finals, more fun! We had lots of
time to ourselves and the evenings grew more and more fun as more of the Maxwell team arrived. The evening’s consisted of getting home from the pool, quickly freshening up for dinner. The adults then seemed to stay in the bar, which gave the swimmers a chance to relax and have more fun! There was one exception though, for Saturday was Donna’s birthday, we surprised her with party poppers, cake and our amazing singing (her tiara looked lovely!)
On the last day, as the weather closed in things weren’t looking good, we were all worried that we wouldn’t be able to stay for finals but Kev took the final decision, we were staying! It was a good decision too because many of us Pb’d and did him and Maxwell proud.
Overall it was a great experience and there was some time for some real team bonding for the parents and children.
A massive thank you to Kev and all the parents, everyone have a lovely time and it couldn’t have happened without you.
