Maxwell top club for the 5th year running
Maxwell, Aylesbury’s performance swimming club, this week end won the Oxford and North Bucks County Championship for the 5th year running, in total 18 clubs from the county competed. Maxwell’s win came as a result of 65 Gold, 73 Silver and 59 Bronze medals. Winning both the Top Club and Top Junior Club Championship, Kevin Brooks head coach said "I'm delighted at the performances of the Maxwell swimmers at this year’s County Championships. It’s so pleasing to see how well the Junior section of our club is coming along - the next few years at Maxwell promise to be exciting times! "

As a result of fantastic performances, Maxwell produced two new national swimmers in Corrine James & Caitlin Wheatley, Corrine in the 15 year 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1:14.05 and Caitlin in the 12 year 200m Butterfly in a time of 2:27.66, both girls will now represent Maxwell at the National Club Championships in Sheffield later this year.

County records were falling too with Hannah Askew breaking the women’s open 100m individual medley and 100m butterfly records in times of 1:04.94 and 1:02.18 respectively. In addition to these records Hannah took the top step on the podium, becoming County Champion in no less than seven events. Other County Champions included Hollie McIntyre senior 200m Breaststroke, Ollie Brewer 1500m Freestyle and Craig Gibbons, a GB International in the 50 and 100m freestyle.

In the age group competition the younger swimmers were performing superbly with Billy Martin (9) having an outstanding first County Championship adding nine gold medals to his ever increasing collection, breaking 8 meet records in the process, and picking up the award for best overall 9 year old boy.

Caralie Matheson picked up the award for the best 9 year old girl by winning 3 gold’s, 3 silvers and 2 bronze medals. Other age group champions included Ellie Picillo (10 yrs) winning 5 gold’s and 3 bronze awards, Catlin Wheatley (12 yrs) winning 5 gold’s and a silver, Ellie Bunce (13 yrs) winning 5 gold’s, 3 silvers and 2 bronze medals and Liam O’Brien (13 yrs) winning 5 gold’s and 1 silver medal.

Congratulations to all the swimmers that took part it’s impossible to list everybody’s achievements but everyone did extremely well
