Leighton Buzzard Invitation Meet (Nov 2008)

The beginning of November saw Maxwell Swim Club competing at the Leighton Buzzard Swim Club A Grade Open Meet held at the Stantonbury Campus Pool in Milton Keynes. The Meet was very successful for Maxwell swimmers with a total of 9 Gold, 15 Silver and 13 Bronze medals being won.

Owain Spencer (10) achieved three Gold medals in the 100m Butterfly, 100m Breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley events with his winning times being 1:42.45, 1:49.47 and 3:20.72 respectively. He also picked up Silvers for his swims in the 100m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle and earned Bronze in both the 50m and 100m Freestyle races. The other multiple Gold winner was Liam O’Brien (12) who swam impressive times of 29.98 and 1:05.17 in the 50m and 100m Freestyle events respectively. Liam also earned a Silver medal in the 100m Backstroke.

Of the Girls Emily Martin (11) came away with the most medals winning Gold in the 200m Individual Medley in a time of 2:50.51, whilst also gaining Silvers from her 200m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke events and Bronze in both the 50m and 100m Freestyle races.

There was a Gold for Rosie Thomas (10) finishing the 100m Freestyle in 1:39.60, along with a Silver in the 50m Freestyle. Leah Picillo (11) also earned a Gold and a Silver, with her 1:20.94 in the 100m Butterfly putting her first, whilst a less than half a second margin placed her second in the 200m Individual Medley. Rhys Hylands (12) achieved a Gold in the 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2:43.50 and complemented this with Silver in the 50m Freestyle event.

James Ally (9) managed three Silver medals in the 100m Butterfly 100m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle races and also won a Bronze for his efforts in the 200m Freestyle. Alfie Bones (12) achieved Silver in the 200m Individual Medley and Bronze 50m Freestyle, whilst Nicole Bignell (13) achieved Silver in the 100m Breaststroke and Bronze in the 50m Freestyle. Silvers were won by Caitlin Wheatley (11) and Zoe Denning (12) in the 100m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle races respectively. The other medal winners were Abbie Haward (12) and Josh Turner (13) who won two Bronzes each, with Theo Cockrean (10) and Matthew Nolte (12) also winning Bronze.
