More Home Counties success for Maxwell Swim Club

The second round of the Home Counties League saw a team of Maxwell swimmers travel to Luton where they faced competition from Dunstable, Luton A, Luton B and Witney B this weekend.  All the Maxwell swimmers rose to the challenge of swimming in a 33.3 metre pool, especially the young 13 and under swimmers who had to swim 66.6 metres instead of the 50 metres required in most pools.

The event saw fifty races in all that comprised of mixture of individual and relay races across all age ranges and resulted in Maxwell achieving an incredible 33 first places and 14 second places. Consequently, the overall result was a comprehensive victory with Maxwell amassing 279 points, some 44 points ahead of the second place team, Luton A, who finished with a total of 235 points, in front of Dunstable with 206 points, Witney B with 134 points and Luton B with 132  points.

Coach Ally Brewer exclaimed "What another successful round to the Home Counties! Well done to everyone who swam.  I would also like to thank all the coaches and officials who attended the Gala. She was also extremely pleased to report that an official at the meet complimented Maxwell Swimming club by saying "you have shown us all how to swim."

The now eagerly awaited third round of the Home Counties will take place on the last week March.
