About Us

Maxwell Swim Club was established in 1979 and has developed into one of the most successful clubs in the Country, producing International swimmers, National Champions and finalists, and Midland District record holders.
Based at the new Aqua Vale Centre and recently refurbished Stoke Mandeville Stadium in Aylesbury, Maxwell have access to superb training and competition facilities.

It supports and is actively working toward accreditation as a performance centre in the ASA Swim 21 programme and swimmers now have up to 18.5 hours of pool time available each week along with 3 to 4 hours land training.

The Club aims to enable, through excellence in training and coaching, all club members to achieve their full potential and to provide competition appropriate to their abilities.

To achieve this, the club invests heavily in both its coaching staff and ensuring that sufficient pool time is available to avoid lane overcrowding during training. The Club Head Coach, Kevin Brooks works closely with all the squads through his team of qualified coaches. These qualities and resources single out the Maxwell Swim Club and are fundamental for the success the club and its swimmers enjoy.

Training

For swimmers to reach their full potential they will need to train properly and regularly. Training for competition does demand and develop a high degree of discipline, a quality that is useful in many aspects of life. Naturally to provide the correct training according to age and ability, the club has a well-defined squad structure. Each swimmer is regularly assessed and when considered ready for the next challenge moved to a higher squad.

Competition

The club organises and runs a number of swimming competitions each year. These range from the “Designated Open Meet” which is a two day competition that attracts over 400 swimmers from around the country, to invitation team galas that take up a Saturday evening. Swimmers are also expected to enter Open Meets that the club supports, these range again from major events held at venues such as the Sheffield Ponds Forge complex, with one of Europe’s best 50 meter pools, to more local events aimed at swimmers new to competition

Swimming to Win

The club and its swimmers enjoy considerable success at all levels and age groups. In the Oxford and North Bucks County Championships, Maxwell swimmers regularly achieve many wins and top six places.

The clubs top swimmers also compete in the Midland District and National Championships. Again many high ranked finishes are regularly achieved both in individual and relay events.
