Swimmers show well in event (Article from the Bucks Herald)
Youngsters from Maxwell Swim Club dominated the distance events in the opening weekend of the County Championships at Milton Keynes.
The girls competed over an 800m freestyle distance and the boys the same stroke over 1500m.
Five of the six medals available in the girls senior and junior categories were awarded to Maxwell competitors.
It was a 1-2-3 in the senior championship with Julie Rampley swimming the second fastest 800m time ever achieved in the County, a 9:01.17.
Coming a close second was the previous county senior champion Sarah Turner, with newcomer Emily Pritchard coming third in the
seniors and first in the junior event in a time of 9.21.33.
Briony Everett did a fantastic job and swam the best time of her season, coming third in the junior category.
All the other girls impressed within their respective heats with nearly all improving on their personal best times.
Holly McIntyre and Georgie Parkins both had great swims to go sub-10minutes for the first time.
Other good swims came from Anna Evison, Rebecca Griffiths, Corrine James and Sophie
Elgar who all managed significant improvements to their previous best times in the event.
In the boys event, Rory Kemp beat the previous county champion from the City of Oxford winning gold in the senior championship with a time of 16:27.16.
A solid swim from Tom Smith saw him come fourth in the senior category.
Olly Brewer had an impressive swim and knocked a whole minute off his entry time - a great result placing him second in the junior championship.
Aaron Lee
knocked almost two minutes off his entry time in a race that he led from the start - a great result which places him as the third fastest 12 year old in the county.
Dominic Minihan improved his previous best time by 70 seconds doing a great job in his age group - becoming the fourth fastest 12 year old boy.
Other good swims and personal bests came from Alex Pitts, Aarron King, Thomas Mayho and Joe Winterburn
